Shaolin Temple's secular disciple has a 1400 years' long history ;

The first Emperor of Tang Dinasty Li Shiming 李世民 (Tang Tai Zong 唐太宗) offered great support to Shaolin Temple at Sonshan in Hunan district, being greatful to the temple's 13 monk warriors for helping at the moment of dinasty's foundation (7th century). He also ordered to create a unit of monk warriors in the temple.

 

Historical personage, such as general Yuefei (岳飞 12th century) or Wusong (武松 ) appear in the long list of Shaolin temple's secular disciples.

 

Today, Shaolin Secular Disciple's Union promotes Shaolin kungfu, qigong, and chan not only in China but also worldwide through their schools.

Shaolin Mountain Hostel was newly opened in summer 2016, in a small village of Wangzhigou, inside famous world heritage Shaolin Temple scenic area.

 

Our concept is to offer a Chinese home at the origin of Shaolin martial arts, to those who train and preserve shaolin tradition and spirit all over the world, and welcome them back home anytime they wish.

We are also opened to tourists and to all those who wish to train martial arts in the heart of iconic Shaolin Temple's area.

 

*****  Shaolin discipe is constituted in two different categories ;

- religious disciple :  those who become a monk.

- secular disciple :    those who do not become a monk.

Both respect strict rules in the temple and practice martial arts.
